It's been loosely mentioned here and there, but barring a doomsday event, a freak blizzard in May, or a typhoon across north-central Louisiana, our second trip to Sicily Island is happening the weekend of May 17-18.
For those unfamiliar with the area, it offers 100+ trails ranging from level 1 to level 5 in difficulty. You'll find plenty of rock that is almost seemingly out of place for this area of Louisiana, with enough slickness and inclination to make your Jeep grow some chest hair. With trail names like Stonehenge, Viagra, Bottoms Up, Balls, Why Not, and Snake Pass, there's obviously something there for everyone.
Weekend pass is $40 per rig, primitive camping is free, and electricity is available for $10 for the type of folks that grew up in the city or watch Oprah for fun. Bug spray is highly, highly recommended, I actually had a swarm of gnats assist me in getting across some rock last year, due to my absence of the easy button. Thanks, gnats.
