I've lived in Hattiesburg for over 15 years now, but believe it or not I'm not all that familiar with the local mechanics, etc. around these parts. I work in Columbia, so most of the mechanic work I get done happens there. I thought we could start a thread on some local Jeep friendly mechanics, alignment shops, etc. that people have had good experience with and are knowledgable about Jeeps. My brother lives in Brandon and is in a Jeep club up there and they all use a Firestone shop in Pearl for there alignment and balancing. Does a phenomenal job with aligning and balancing big tires. Also Jackson Powertrain is a great place for gears, lockers, and general axle and drivetrain work.
Any places like these in the Hattiesburg area?

Mikes is one of the only places that will balance plus size tires and uses balancing beads. I heard their alignments are okay but you can do just as good as a job in your garage at home with two straight edges and a tape measure. Straight axle alignments are easy. And custom work as far as bumpers cages and armor talk to James at LowFab in Kiln. As far as gearing Perdormnce muffler on the coast, Cartex and Randy's driveline. Performance and Cartex will do custom work also. I have a buddy that's getting a 8.8 in the rear of a YJ and he took it all to Cartex. Prices usually better than performance.

I use Walt Wright. He's a local guy that works at a local truck service company. He has a first rate shop at his house just outside of Purvis where he does driveline, suspension, and differential work. He swapped in an 8.8 with chromalloy shafts, locker, and regeared it as well as the front axle in my XJ. He also install CAD brackets and coil spacers. He does great work and is reasonably priced. You can contact him at Sayno2Lo@yahoo.com or text, 601-329-3590.

Good info!!
I did 90% of the work on my jeep myself but for the gears and welding I went to performance on the coast.
Also there are two guys that work at Dossett GMC that are good with jeeps and can usually help you out for a fair price. One of them, Eric is a member here.

On aftermarket equipment??
I don't know how they can say that considering I can go off road and knock my alignment out in about 10 minutes...
