Big thanks to Rob and "Cedar Lane Customs" for helping me out. Pulled the console, found the problem Engineering FAIL Trimmed the factory replacement bushing first Then Rob found this little jewel in the bottom of a bucket. Had to drill it out to 5/16 ID and them used a Dremmel to enlarge the ID of the plastic bushing rather than reduce the OD of the brass. Used a 3/16" E-clip to keep it locked in place. It looked like the plastic linkage might slip over the E-clip so I used a washer. Hope this helps someone else. One of these days I'll do the t-case side. Side note: why is there untreated metal ANYwhere on a Jeep, notice the rust under the console.

Good work!
What symptoms were you having with your linkage?
As far as the rust, I think it's that way with all vehicles. I have modified a lot of different vehicles and they all have "hidden" secrets.

Mine broke at HPO. It was stuck in 4lo which was handy until it was time to go. Had to shift it manually into 2high.

Rob's tool and parts collection made it a whole lot easier.
